New Natural Resources Headquarters Building
CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act)

Purpose of Notice
The California Department of General Services (DGS) is the lead agency responsible for preparation of an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the proposed New Natural Resources Heaquarters Building Project, located in downtown Sacramento.

Pursuant to provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), DGS has prepared a Notice of Preparation (NOP) for the proposed project. Once a decision is made to prepare an EIR, the lead agency must prepare a NOP to inform all responsible and trustee agencies (agencies) that an EIR will be prepared (CEQA Guidelines Section 15082). The purpose of the NOP is to provide agencies, interested parties, and organizations with sufficient information describing the proposed project and the potential environmental effects to enable meaningful input related to the scope and content of information to be included in the EIR.

Resources Building Replacement Project

YOU ARE INVITED TO REVIEW AND COMMENT

The California Department of General Services (DGS) is releasing the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the Resources Building Replacement Project for public review and comment from May 19 - July 3, 2017. The proposed project involves demolition of the existing surface parking and construction of a new office building (approx. 800,000 gross sq. ft. office space) on the block bounded by 7th /8th and O / P Streets to remedy critical State office space deficiencies in downtown Sacramento and allow the Resources Building (1416 9th Street) to be vacated. The Heilbron House would be retained in its existing location (corner of 7th and O Streets) and a child care facility would be placed on the roof of the Subterranean Building on the block bounded by 7th/8th and N/O Streets. The DEIR identifies significant, or potentially significant environmental effects in the areas of Utilities and Infrastructure, Air Quality, Noise, Cultural Resources, Biological Resources, and glare/shadows.

A meeting to provide further information on the DEIR and accept comments will be held from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, East Room, 828 I Street, Sacramento.

Written comments will be accepted by DGS through 5:00 PM on July 3, 2017. Comments must be delivered or mailed to Ms. Stephanie Coleman at the following address:
